How to add Google Analytics to the Divi site

As a Divi site owner, you can use one of the two ways to add Google Analytics to your site. The first option is to follow a manual process of adding it. This can take some time and effort. Another option is simply using a third-party plugin to add the Google Analytics tracking code to your Divi site.

Divi’s feature-rich approach ensures you don’t rely on a third-party plugin. Instead, it offers an easy yet effective way to add Google Analytics code from the Theme Options area.

The first step is to generate a Google Analytics tracking code. Once generated, you can add it to your site.

Step 1. Get a Google Analytics account

If you don’t have a Google Analytics account, you need to create one. To do so, go to Google Analytics Homepage. Once there, click on “Get started today” to start the sign-up process. It’ll open up a new page where you can Create a new Google account or log in to your existing account.

Once you log in, it’ll redirect you to the Google Analytics page, where you need to click on “Start measuring.”

It’ll open up an account setup process where you need to enter your Account name and also set “Account Data Sharing Settings.”

For this tutorial, we can set the Account name as “Demo Analytics Account.” Then, under Account Data Settings, you don’t have to change anything. All you need to do is make sure that the “Benchmarking,” “Technical Support,” and “Account specialists” options are ticked ON.

Click on Next to proceed.

Step 2: Set up Google Property

Now, it’ll ask you to set property details. By property details, Google wants to know about the site for which you want to generate the Google Analytics code. Here, enter the Property name, and select Reporting time zone and Currency.

You can also opt to “Show advanced property.” and opt-in to create a Universal Analytics property.

We suggest not enabling “Universal Analytics property.” Apart from that, set everything based on your preference.

Step 3: Enter Business Details

Finally, click on Next to enter your business information.

Here, you need to enter the Industry category, your Business size, and why you need to use Google Analytics for your business. Then, you can select all that apply.

Finally, Click on “Create” to complete the process. Before the process completes, it’ll ask you to accept Google Analytics Terms of Service.

Tick the option “I also accept the Data Processing Terms as required by GDPR” and click “I Accept.”

Step 4: Set Up Data Stream 

It’ll then redirect you to the Analytics Home page, which will offer you a tour to understand the platform. At the time of writing the tutorial, they are offering their newly updated interface, Google Analytics 4.

With the Google Analytics dashboard open, click on “Web” to start generating the Google Analytics code for your Divi site.

Here, you need to enter the Website URL and Stream Name. You can also enable “Enhanced measurement,” which offers access to more data. It is already turned ON by default. If not, turn it ON.

Click on “Create Stream.” 

Step 5: Get access to Google site tag and Measurement ID

Now, you’ll get your Measurement ID, the Google Analytics Code you need.

Click on it, and you’ll find it opens another window where you need to click on “Install manually” to reveal the code.

Step 6: Add the Google Site tag to your Divi-powered site

With the Google site tag copied, open up your Divi site dashboard. Now, go to Divi and then Theme Options. There, you’ll find the Integration tab.

Open it up and add the Google Tracking Code similar to that of Google Analytics. Next, copy-paste the code and click on “Save Changes.”

Step 7: Test The Connection

You must test the connection to ensure you successfully completed the process.

To do so, go to your Google Analytics Dashboard. From there, go to the Reports section and see live statistics, including real-time data.
